Gran-bassador Terms and Conditions

General information:

  1. The promoters for the ambassador (Gran-bassador) programme are Young Marmalade Limited and Provisional Marmalade Ltd (“Marmalade”) (Marmalade House, Alpha Business Centre Mallard Road, Bretton, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England, PE3 8AF – company registration number 08676228) and Cello Signal Limited t/a The Leith Agency (The Leith Agency, 86/2 Commercial Quay, Edinburgh, EH6 6LX, United Kingdom – company registration number SC143653 ) on behalf of The Scottish Government.
  2. Queries can be sent to gran-bassador@leith.co.uk
  3. There will be four ambassadors (Gran-bassadors) in the ambassador programme.
  4. Each Gran-bassador will receive 12 months Black Box Insurance up to a maximum value of £1500. Insurance covers travelling to and from your place of work but not for commercial use i.e. professional drivers such as delivery drivers, taxi drivers). The £1500 insurance cover is non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-refundable. No cash alternative is available for the insurance.
  5. This promotion is not available in conjunction with any other offer.
  6. This promotion shall be governed by the laws of Scotland, applicable to contracts executed and to be fully performed therein and without regard to its choice of law provisions.

Conditions of entry:

  1. You must be a resident of Scotland and aged between 17 and 29 to enter.
  2. The Gran-bassador programme is open to residents of Scotland, except employees of Provisional Marmalade Ltd and Young Marmalade Ltd, employees of The Scottish Government and their affiliated companies, their families and agencies.
  3. Applicants who are existing Marmalade customers:
    1. You must have valid insurance in place with Marmalade that either starts after 01.04.21, or is due to renew before 01.09.21, and meet the following conditions:
    2. Live in Scotland
    3. Have made no previous claims in the last 5 years in connection with any type of vehicle
    4. Have no convictions for any criminal offence (unspent under the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974) and have no prosecutions pending.
    5. Have never been convicted for any motoring offence within the last 5 years (including fixed penalty offences) and no convictions pending.
    6. A parent/grandparent/Guardian must be a named driver if you are aged under 22
    7. If successful, you will be refunded any payments made to date towards your insurance.
    8. You will have an additional contract to sign regarding participation. Non-performance of contractual obligations and/or material breach of the contract will result in the contract being invalidated.
  4. Applicants who are new prospect customers:
    1. Marmalade must be able to provide a valid insurance quote (you can check by getting a quick quote here: https://www.wearemarmalade.co.uk/black-box-insurance/get-a-quote) and you and meet the following conditions:
    2. Live in Scotland.
    3. Have made no previous claims in the last 5 years in connection with any type of vehicle.
    4. Have no convictions for any criminal offence (unspent under the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974) and have no prosecutions pending.
    5. Have never been convicted for any motoring offence within the last 5 years (including fixed penalty offences) and no convictions pending.
    6. A parent/grandparent/Guardian must be a named driver if you are aged under 22.
    7. If successful you will have an additional contract to sign regarding participation. Non-performance of contractual obligations and/or material breach of the contract will result in the contract being invalidated.
  5. By applying, all applicants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and any associated requirements. Any breach of these terms and conditions by an applicant will void their application. Misrepresentative or fraudulent applications will be invalid.
  6. Eligibility criteria for Black Box Insurance:
    1. Black Box Insurance provides cover for full licence holders aged 20 – 29. We’ll cover Scottish postcodes and selected cars up to 25 years old with a £500 minimum value (excluding commercial vehicles). We’re unable to cover drivers with previous claims or convictions.

Application process:

  1. To apply to become a Gran-bassador, entrants must email an entry and satisfy all the requirements within the entry (details on roadsafety.scot/granbassador) to gran-bassador@leith.co.uk. Only one entry per person.
  2. Applications to the Gran-bassador programme opens at 9am on Monday 31 May 2021 and closes at midnight on Sunday 8 August 2021. Entries received after this time will not be put forward for consideration.
  3. The successful applicants will be chosen by the judges from entries received once the application window closes. The judging panel will consist of representatives from The Leith Agency, The Scottish Government and Marmalade.
  4. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to conduct a brief video call prior to the judges’ final decision. Candidates should therefore be competent in using digital and social media and be comfortable in creating user generated content.
  5. The judges’ decision is final.
  6. Incorrectly completed applications or the use of a false name or details will result in disqualification.
  7. All applications must be made directly by the person entering the competition.
  8. Applications made online using methods generated by a script, macro or the use of automated software will not be accepted.
  9. No responsibility can be accepted for applications lost, delayed or corrupted, or due to computer, network or software failure which may restrict or delay or failure of entry.
  10. Marmalade and The Leith Agency on behalf of The Scottish Government reserve the right to verify the validity of applications, and to disqualify anyone who tampers with the process or does not act in accordance with the Conditions of Entry as outlined above.
  11. The applicant may be required to submit valid identification before receiving insurance cover.
  12. Entries may not be acknowledged or returned.
  13. The successful applicants will be contacted by The Leith Agency by 15 August 2021.
  14. The successful applicants must ensure that they contact the Leith Agency (gran-bassador@leith.co.uk) within 7 days of receiving the initial notification. Failure to do so will result in disqualification and another winner will be selected instead.

Data sharing:

  1. Applicants’ data (for example: name, address/postcode, date of birth, model of car, car registration) provided on the application form will be shared with Marmalade in order for Marmalade to provide a valid insurance quote.
  2. Gran-bassadors’ driving scores will be shared with The Leith Agency and The Scottish Government on a quarterly basis.

Details of Black Box Insurance:
Also known as black box insurance, telematics utilises a discreet black box (in this case a small tag) which lets us know how you’re driving by sending information to us via a GPS signal. The box measures distance, location, acceleration, braking, cornering, average speed, and phone usage.

  1. Each Gran-bassador will receive 12 months Black Box Insurance up to a maximum value of £1500. Insurance covers travelling to and from your place of work but not for commercial use i.e. professional drivers such as delivery drivers, taxi drivers). The £1500 insurance cover is non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-refundable. No cash alternative is available for the or insurance.
  2. Mid Term Adjustments (MTA): If, during the duration of the Gran-bassador programme, there is any change in the facts you have disclosed (such as a change of address or a new motoring conviction) please advise us as soon as possible (telephone 0333 358 3441). This can result in a change to your premium (i.e. it can decrease or increase). In the case of an increase, we will cover an additional £200 making the Black Box insurance maximum value of £1,700. If the premium is higher than the maximum value (£1,700) the additional costs must be paid by the Gran-bassador.
  3. Marmalade will contact you directly to complete the full application for insurance, set up the policy and explain how it works. You can read more about Marmalade’s black box insurance here. Eligibility criteria applies and repeated unsafe driving could result in a premium increase (that would be payable by the policyholder) or cancellation if unsafe driving continues. It is rare, as less than 2% of journeys driven by Marmalade policyholders are deemed unsafe.

Gran-bassador obligations:

  1. The insurance can be cancelled if the Gran-bassador doesn’t carry out the required obligation to provide content.
  2. Successful applicants must sign a contract regarding the Gran-bassador role and provision of content:
    1. Content is (but not limited to) written or video submission, interview, participation in PR.
      There is a minimum expectation for Gran-bassadors to each deliver:
    2. one piece of content per quarter for the Leith Agency on behalf of the Scottish Government in relation to Road Safety (minimum 4 pieces of content over the year).
    3. Deliver two pieces of content over the year for Marmalade (minimum 2 pieces of content over the year).
    4. This is a total of 6 outputs over 12 months (minimum).
    5. All content must be submitted to The Leith Agency to be reviewed before posting.
    6. Breaking the law and getting points on your license will negate the contract and insurance cover will be withdrawn.
    7. There is zero tolerance towards swearing, racist and homophobic content. Breaking this will result in the insurance cover being withdrawn and if you wish to continue the insurance you will be required to pay the pro rata difference in the insurance premium.
    8. You may post organically about your relationship with Marmalade and The Scottish Government.
  3. If the individual does not follow through with content obligations but would like to continue with the policy then they will be charged the pro-rata amount for the remaining premium.
  4. The content submitted is from the named person on this application and is original content developed specifically for the purpose of this application.
  5. By entering, the winner agrees for Marmalade and The Leith Agency on behalf of The Scottish Government to use their names and general location for publicity purposes.
  6. Marmalade and The Leith Agency on behalf of the Scottish Government reserves the right to withdraw, modify or supersede the Gran-bassador programme (including altering value of insurance cover) at any time without notice. This does not affect your statutory rights.
  7. By applying to become a Gran-bassador, participants agree to i). the terms and conditions of the Gran-bassador programme.
