Everyone knows you should wear a seatbelt. But what are the real reasons you should always belt up?
If you’re not wearing a seatbelt in a crash at 30mph, your body will hit anything in front of you – including another passenger or the driver – with a force between 30 and 60 times your own body weight.
Deciding not to wear a seatbelt is reckless and it’s illegal. At the very least, you’ll get a fixed penalty notice of between £100 and £500.
By law, it’s up to the driver to ensure that passengers under the age of 14 are wearing a seatbelt.
You never know when an accident might happen. Wearing a seatbelt could save your live – and the lives of people around you.
