It’s not okay to drink any amount and drive. It’s also not okay to take recreational drugs and drive. Both drinking and taking drugs while driving come with severe consequences including fines, driving bans, and even jail time.
How to avoid driving under the influence:
- Plan ahead – sort out your transport before you go on a night out.
- Leave your car at home – if you think you might be tempted to have a drink, leave your car behind.
- Avoid driving the day after you’ve been drinking heavily – you might still be over the limit.
- If you’re taking drugs prescribed by your Doctor – check whether it’s okay for you to drive with them in your system. The patient information leaflet will usually tell you.
