Pre-driver education: a critical review of literature on good practice

This report provides a critical review of literature on the development of children’s and young people’s attitudes to driving and being a passenger. The report synthesizes existing evidence to assist policy makers to better understand how, when and to what extent they can target the development of road safety skills in children as they transition from being pedestrians and cyclists to being drivers and passengers. Aimed at students who have not yet obtained a provisional licence, this review aims to generate a fresh approach, building on lessons from past research while integrating it within a wider developmental perspective.
