Penalties that could affect new drivers
Here are some examples of penalties you could face if you end up losing your Licence, driving without insurance, or without an MOT.
If you’re a newly qualified driver it doesn’t take much for you to lose you licence e.g. by getting caught twice by a speed camera.
If you do lose your licence be aware that driving without a licence is a serious offence. You could be imprisoned for up to 12 months, face a £5,000 fine and an additional 6 penalty points.
Insurance may be expensive but driving an uninsured car may end up costing you a lot more in the long run.
Apart from a fine of up to £5,000, you will also get 6-8 points on your licence which could lead to a driving ban.
Failing to get an MOT on your vehicle could cost you up to a £1,000 fine.
